Spoon River is one of the hardest places to live. Every individual goes through different life changing experiences, and everyone has a story to tell. The women of Spoon River caused Mrs. Williams to be a depressed and azious women becuase they talked about her behind her back.
Mrs. Williams is a depressed person because the women of Spoon River talked about her behind her back. She feels sad because the other women of Spoon River “ lied about” her and say that her disappearance of her daughter, Dora Williams, “ was charged to her rearing” (Master 72). Dora Williams said, “ When Reuben Pantier ran away and threw me I went to Springfield” ( Master 71) , which demonstrates that Dora did not disappear because of her. Its is easy why Mrs.Williams fells fells depressed ; not not only are the women talking about her behind her back, but the are saying hurtful lies regarding her daughter that makes her look bad.
However anxiety is the hardest of all because of how it can lead to Mrs.Williams being paranoid. Always having the mind set of someone talking about you behind your back can be challenging. Knowing that there are women around that could be “ the steelers of husbands”(Master 72). Everything around her is spontaneous just like the couples around her, “ To live and enjoy, change mates if they wish” ( Master 73) . Mrs. Williams is a stable person with all the people shaking her emotions.
Mrs. Williams is a character like no other. The sad a d apprehensive women is an unstable place is a strong story. The heavy amount of unhappyness of loosing some one you love and hear from others lies. With everyone around her having a connection towards each other and the negativity is like a ship in crashing waves. It is a scary place to live.
